Lets Talk About Science (And My Kitty)
So today I am going to talk about… Science! Science is one of my favorite subjects, as long as it doesn’t have to much math involved π So anyway here is the science book that I use:
It is called Exploring Creation with Physical Science by Dr. Jay L. Wile and is a part of the Apologia science program. I wasn’t sure at first what all they considered “Physical Science” so here are a few of the topics it covers: Air, The Atmosphere, Water, Weather, Physics of Motion, Newton’s laws, Light, Sound, and Β The Forces In Creation. Okay, so that was more than a few, but those are most of the topics that he covers in this book.
I really like how the lessons are laid out, they have experiments, diagrams, and example problems for what he is talking about. Here are pictures of some of the pages from the textbook:
Each module takes me one to two weeks to read through. I usually read about one section a day, three to four days a week. I usually do not do the experiments, cause they can take quite a few supplies, so I just read through the experiment, then the author explains what you just did in it, so I can understand it even if I do not perform the experiment. Then when I finish a module I do the “Study Guide” which is like a test. They also have an actual “test” in the Solutions and Tests book, but I don’t do the tests, cause they are a lot like the study guides.
I would definitely recommend this for eighth grade and up, even though I think it is supposed to be for middle schoolers, I think that its a lot of information and is better suited for high school. It is definitely not easy for me, and I am in ninth grade.
Of course, my siblings all do different science than I do, so maybe I will talk about what they do another day!
When I was taking pictures, my cat decided to follow me around, so here are a couple pics that she photo bombed π
And then she decided to sit on my desk while I typed this up! Crazy Casey π
